Afolabi Olumide Ayodeji, a 15-year-old student of Icons Comprehensive College in Ondo, has made history by achieving the highest score in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination since the introduction of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system in 2013. Olumide scored an exceptional 370 out of 400 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), breaking a decade-old record.
His remarkable performance includes near-perfect scores in Mathematics and Physics, each with 98 marks, 94 in Chemistry, and 80 in Use of English, demonstrating a strong grasp across core subjects. This achievement has drawn widespread attention across Nigeria, highlighting Olumide’s discipline, focus, and academic excellence.
Reflecting on his success, Olumide said, “I didn’t set out to break any record; I just wanted to give my best. I thank God, my parents, and my teachers for believing in me.” His modesty and dedication have inspired many students nationwide.
This milestone comes alongside other notable Nigerian academic achievements, such as Chidubem Nkeme, who recently secured $85,000 in scholarships to study at four universities in the United States after excelling in his secondary school exams.
