The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has officially opened applications for its 2025 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills to boost employment and entrepreneurship. The initiative offers tuition-free training, a monthly stipend of ₦45,000, and start-up support for participants.
The program is open to job seekers, school leavers, and graduates across Nigeria, regardless of educational background. Training will be conducted at accredited technical colleges and vocational centers located in all six geopolitical zones of the country.
To apply, candidates must visit the official TVET portal at www.tvet.education.gov.ng and complete a straightforward registration process. Applicants are required to verify their identity using their National Identity Number (NIN) and date of birth, provide a valid phone number and email address, and create an account on the portal.
Applicants then select their preferred training track: a six-month Short-Term Certificate (STC) program or a one-year Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) program. They must upload supporting documents, including their Bank Verification Number (BVN), proof of education or informal training, and personal details before submitting their application.
Since the portal went live on May 30, 2025, the program has received over 90,000 applications, reflecting strong interest among Nigerian youths eager to gain industry-relevant skills.
Upon completion, participants will receive an industry-recognized certificate and benefit from career guidance, job placement assistance, and start-up grants to support their transition into the workforce or entrepreneurship.
The Federal Ministry of Education encourages eligible Nigerians to apply early as slots remain available. This initiative represents a significant step toward bridging Nigeria’s skills gap and promoting economic empowerment among young people nationwide.
