JAMB releases 2025 UTME mop-up results and cracks down on fake admission letters

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for the 2025 UTME mop-up exam held on June 28, 2025, while also revealing progress in its fight against fake admission letter syndicates.

Out of 96,838 candidates scheduled for the mop-up exam, only 11,161 actually sat for the test across 183 centres nationwide. These results have now been made available to the candidates who followed the correct process to access them via SMS.

This mop-up exam was a special one-time opportunity for candidates who missed the main and resit exams or faced biometric verification issues. It was aimed at ensuring no eligible candidate was left behind in the 2025 admission cycle.

In a related crackdown, JAMB, working with the Nigeria Police Force’s Cybercrime Centre, arrested five ring-leaders behind a fake admission letter scam. Investigations revealed that 17,417 candidates benefited from forged admission letters between 2024 and May 2025. While 6,903 candidates were cleared after correcting minor issues, over 10,000 remain under police investigation for outright forgery or attempts to bypass official admission processes.

JAMB also identified 13 candidates with admission anomalies and has allowed them to rectify their cases. Additionally, 1,532 candidates have been warned but condoned after their institutions processed their admissions properly. The board emphasized ongoing screening and warned that anyone caught in admission fraud will face prosecution regardless of their age or assistance received.

Candidates are advised to follow JAMB’s official channels for updates and to avoid fraudulent offers. The board’s continued vigilance is expected to strengthen trust in Nigeria’s education system.
