Enugu Air, in a statement issued on Thursday, has confirmed that one of its aircraft veered off the runway after landing at Benin Airport, stating that everyone on board was safely evacuated without injuries.
The airline described the incident as a runway excursion, a term used in aviation when an aircraft leaves the runway during landing or takeoff.
The airline added that the aircraft has been secured, while relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with standard safety procedures.
“Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today.We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties…the safety of our passengers, crew and operations remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels” – Enough Air
Enugu Air also warned that the incident could result in temporary adjustments to some flight schedules, stressing that affected passengers would be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.
It also said investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and assess the condition of the aircraft.
