Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is stepping into the world of filmmaking, partnering with acclaimed British director Matthew Vaughn to launch an independent film studio, UR- Marv. The studio promises to merge innovative technology with traditional storytelling, marking a significant venture for both Ronaldo and Vaughn.
Ronaldo announced the project on social media, expressing his enthusiasm: “And action! I’m excited to announce UR- MARV, my new film studio with Matthew Vaughn, and can’t wait to tell you about our first movie. Coming soon!” The studio has already produced two action films and is working on a third, with plans to reveal its first release in the near future.
Matthew Vaughn, known for directing and producing films like Kingsman, Snatch, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, highlighted Ronaldo’s unique appeal. “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him, he’s a real-life superhero,” Vaughn said in a statement.
This venture aligns with Ronaldo’s growing business interests. In 2023, he became a shareholder in the Portuguese media conglomerate Medialivre, expanding his presence in the audiovisual sector. He also launched his YouTube channel, “UR Cristiano,” in August 2024, which quickly became the fastest channel to reach 1 million subscribers.
Ronaldo’s influence extends far beyond football. With over one billion followers across social media platforms, including 651 million on Instagram, his brand value has soared to €850 million in 2025, according to a study by the Portuguese Institute of Administration and Marketing (IPAM). This marks a 325% growth since 2020, solidifying his status as one of the world’s most valuable personal brands.
As captain of Al Nassr and five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo continues to push boundaries both on and off the pitch. His collaboration with Vaughn signals a new chapter in his career, blending his passion for storytelling with his global influence. Fans can look forward to seeing how UR- Marv shapes the future of cinema.
