The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced plans to partner with the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education to roll out a nationwide digital literacy, entrepreneurship and STEM training programme aimed at empowering female educators and their students.
The initiative was announced during a meeting at NITDA headquarters, where the North-West Zonal Coordinator of the association, Zainab Inuwa Adamu, invited NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi to serve as patron of its forthcoming national conference.
The agency proposed developing a long-term capacity-building programme that will equip women educators with digital and information technology skills before extending mentorship and training opportunities to the girls across Nigeria, rather than offering one-off support.
According to NITDA, the program will include digital literacy, digital marketing, business planning and entrepreneurship training to help participants strengthen their economic activities in order to improve digital competence.
The agency also plans to encourage more young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), particularly in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and data science.
As part of the collaboration, NITDA said it will provide digital learning tools and educational resources and invited members of the association to participate in the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote digital inclusion and create more technology opportunities for women educators and the next generation of Nigerian girls.
